According to a tweet from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Turkish side Fenerbahce have agreed on a deal with Manchester United to sign midfielder Fred.
Medicals will take place soon as and when the player travels. The important bit here is that personal terms are fully agreed between Fenerbahce and Fred.
The Turkish squad had reportedly made an offer to sign the Brazil international for roughly €15 million, according to a tweet from Romano just a few hours earlier. It appears that this lawsuit moved along quickly once United secured the payment they desired for their asset.
Five years ago, during the summer transfer window, the Red Devils paid £52 million to Shakhtar Donetsk to obtain Fred.
The 30-year-old was a regular starter before Jose Mourinho quit and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over in the middle of the 2018–19 campaign.
The midfielder’s playing time started to vary little more once Erik ten Hag joined the team last summer. Casemiro’s entrance, a fellow countryman, did not help matters either.
If everything goes according to plan and Fred signs with Fenerbahce soon, his time as a player for Man United will be remembered in a variety of ways.
Every time the player stepped onto the field, he wanted to offer everything he had for the squad. He had some restrictions on his game, which was the problem. There is no going back once such knowledge is discovered while you are a member of a top team.
One would assume that ten Hag instantly reduced his playing time from the usual level after realizing that drawback.
However, we wish the athlete the best and hope that he enjoys his time in Turkey.
