Pep Guardiola’s side face Burnley in our first league assignment of the new season on Friday 11 August, with kick-off at Turf Moor scheduled for 20:00 (UK).

The Treble winners enter the meeting looking to bounce back following our narrow, penalty shootout defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield last time out.

But against a Clarets side who won promotion to the top flight last year with 101 points, and as Championship winners, victory in Lancashire is far from a formality.

The match against Burnley also marks a comeback for legendary Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, who led the team’s promotion to the Premier League after taking the helm before the previous campaign.

The start of the new season is undoubtedly thrilling, and Guardiola and his players gave it their all on Thursday at the CFA to increase our prospects of leaving Turf Moor with three crucial points.
