At Old Trafford tonight, Manchester United will face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their Premier League opener.

Manager Erik ten Hag will be hoping for a strong performance in the Red Devils’ season opening despite their disappointing preseason.

Due to injuries and fitness issues, six players will not be in the starting lineup, but Ten Hag still has a strong squad to choose from.

Andre Onana is set to make his competitive debut in goal for the Red Devils. The Cameroonian has already shown his quality on the ball and should be exciting to watch between the sticks.

Diogo Dalot has fared much better than Wan-Bissaka over the past few matches. He scored with a stunning curling effort against Borussia Dortmund towards the end of last month. However, Wan-Bissaka had more consistent performances in defence, and United had plenty of attacking players.

Therefore, the English player should get the nod at right-back. Luke Shaw is an undisputed starter in the left-back role.

The same can be said for Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in central defence. United are eyeing a new centre-back, but the duo are assured starters at the heart of the backline.

Starting the campaign in his usual position of number six will be Casemiro. Mason Mount ought to be his new midfield partner. Christian Eriksen will be positioned behind Mount in the eighth position.

The best option for United on the right wing is Antony. Although he put on a vibrant showing against Athletic in the final friendly, Facundo Pellistri is ranked below the Brazilian.

Bruno Fernandes will undoubtedly get the ball at position number 10. Alejandro Garnacho, who had an outstanding performance against Lens, ought to join the new captain on the left wing.

With Rasmus Hojlund unfit, Marcus Rashford looks set to lead the attack. Anthony Martial is back in training but is unlikely to start, having not played a single minute in pre-season.
