BRIGHTON have switched their attention to signing Arsenal outcast Albert Sambi Lokonga to replace Moises Caicedo.
Their interest comes after a move for Lille midfielder Carlos Baleba stalled on Monday night.
Brighton have turned their attention to Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga
Lokonga is being eyed as a potential replacement for Moises Caicedo
After selling Caicedo to Chelsea earlier this summer, the Seagulls are eager to sign a new midfielder.
After a protracted transfer controversy, Caicedo completed a £115 million British record deal to Stamford Bridge.
Baleba had appeared to be set to replace him this week by moving to Brighton, but the £26 million deal has since fallen through.
The Belgian is not in Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s plans and could join Brighton on an initial loan deal.
He has made 39 appearances since joining the Gunners in 2021 and still has three years left on his contract.
Lokonga also spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, where he made just nine appearances.
He would be Roberto De Zerbi’s sixth summer signing if he relocated to Brighton.
For a total of £60 million, Joao Pedro, Bart Verbruggen, and Igor Julio have already been acquired.
James Milner and Mahmoud Dahoud have both arrived on free transfers in the meanwhile.
Brighton has started the new season off perfectly, defeating Luton and Wolves 4-1 in each of their games.
They are now in first place in the Premier League heading into West Ham’s visit on Saturday.
