Billy Sharp, an English scorer with a lot of experience, has signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy. He was a free agent after many years with Sheffield United.
Sharp’s deal runs through the end of the 2023 season and has an option for the 2024 season.
Sharp played for Sheffield for 377 games, scored 129 goals, and had 44 helpers during that time.
Sharp will have to fill the spot left by Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, who tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the season.
Greg Vanney, the head coach and sporting director of LA, said, “Billy is a skilled striker who brings experience, leadership, and a history of scoring goals.” ‘
“We’re glad to have a player like Billy join the team as the season winds down.”
LA’s only striker right now is Dejan Joveljic, but Preston Judd has also filled in at the spot.
This season, the team hasn’t done as well as they could have. They are currently 13th in the MLS Western Conference with a record of 5-7-10 and 22 points.
Only Inter Miami, Toronto FC, and the Colorado Rapids have fewer points than the Galaxy in the entire MLS.
