Since Cristiano Ronaldo, Jude Bellingham is the first Real Madrid player to score in each of his first three games with the team.
The 20-year-old scored the game-winning goal for Real Madrid in their tight 1-0 victory against Celta Vigo on Friday night after his £103 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
After losing Vinicius Junior to injury, Los Blancos’ evening wasn’t going so well, as they were unable to break the tie heading into the game’s final ten minutes. However, Bellingham surprised everyone by scoring his fourth goal for the team in the 81st minute with a header, becoming the first Real Madrid player to accomplish it since Ronaldo.
Bellingham scored in Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Athletic Club on the team’s first day of play. He then built on that strong debut by scoring twice in a 3-1 victory at Almeria. When Bellingham switched to a more proactive midfield position at Dortmund last year, the goals began to come more easily. Only four goals were scored in 62 games during his first two seasons in the Bundesliga, where he made his regular team debut at the age of 17. However, he also scored six more goals in Cup and European play.He scored 14 goals overall and eight Bundesliga goals last season, at a rate of one goal per game, which marked a turning point for him. Even Carlo Ancelotti, who said before Bellingham’s most recent goal: “We feel that the presence of Bellingham covers the loss of Karim, is persuaded by Bellingham’s skill in the final third that a striker is not necessary at this juncture, is persuaded by Bellingham’s ability in the final third. He is a boy of great quality who is serious and mature. For those of us who know him, what he is doing is not shocking; rather, what is astonishing is how young he is—only 20 years old.
