Lommel SK of the Belgian Challenger Pro League has loaned their midfielder Filip Krastev to the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) until June of 2024. There is a permanent assignment provision in the loan agreement. Once the Club has received Krastev’s P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC), he will be added to the roster.

John Thorrington, co-president and general manager of LAFC, said Filip “an incredibly talented midfielder whose dynamic qualities and technical ability fit well within our game model.” We’re thrilled to have Filip join LAFC and look forward to seeing him take the next step in what will undoubtedly be a brilliant career.

After spending the previous two seasons on loan with Levski Sofia in the Bulgarian First League from Lommel SK, Krastev (now 21) has signed with LAFC. During his time at Levski Sofia from 2021–2023, Krastev made 56 appearances (42 starts) in all competitions, tallying 12 goals and 11 assists.

The product of Sofia, Bulgaria has played 11 times for the Bulgarian National Team since his debut on September 6, 2020. He featured in six 2022 UEFA Nations League games and made three appearances in 2020 UEFA Euro Qualifiers, contributing an assist in the latter. Krastev competed for Bulgaria in the U-16, U-17, U-18, and U-21 levels.

Krastev started his professional career on July 1, 2018, after beginning his youth career with Slavia Sofia of the Bulgarian First League. From 2018-2021, Krastev played in 49 games (30 starts) for Slavia Sofia in all competitions. This included three appearances in UEFA Europa League qualifications in both years.

Krastev made a permanent move to Lommel before the 2020-21 season and was loaned back to Slavia Sofia for that year. Then, the French League 2 club Troyes borrowed the Bulgarian international from Lommel SK. He played two games for Troyes, helping them win promotion to French League 1, before spending the 2021-22 season on loan with SC Cambuur of the Dutch Eredivisie, where he played five times and scored one.
