Inter Miami CF is on schedule to switch residences in 2025 after the team confirmed Monday that building on Miami Freedom Park had started.
After playing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at DRV PNK Stadium since their 2020 debut season, the team will move to a new 25,000-seat soccer-specific stadium close to Miami International Airport.
According to the chronology, Lionel Messi’s current Inter Miami deal, which he signed in mid-July, expires in 2025. Later this year, a formal groundbreaking ceremony will be held.
“My family wanted to create something genuinely transformative with Inter Miami. We have altered how American soccer is viewed throughout the world in just four short years. That same ambition directs us as we start work on Miami Freedom Park, Inter Miami’s managing owner Jorge Mas said in a release.
“By building a versatile environment, we’ll raise the bar for what sports complexes can be. We are eager to provide families with a year-round location for food and entertainment. In 2025, when Messi and your Inter Miami players take the field for the first time, I can’t wait to greet our supporters and hear their cries.
A 58-acre public park, the largest new park in Miami, soccer and youth athletic fields, a full range of entertainment and commercial offerings, including office space, a hotel, shops, restaurants, and additional experiences and attractions are all included in the privately funded recreation project known as Miami Freedom Park.
On-site laborers and large machinery are currently working on the 131 acres of site preparation and site work while also working on vertical construction. The stadium, public park, entertainment, hotel, retail, and new infrastructure that makeup Miami Freedom Park’s first phase will all advance quickly during this multi-phase project.Devon McCorkle, a seasoned megaproject and sports-anchored real estate investment and development veteran, was hired earlier this year by Inter Miami’s ownership to oversee the initiative as president of Miami Freedom Park. After the planning and approvals phase is finished, he will assist in moving the project into the implementation phase.
Lionel Messi has had a beneficial impact on Inter Miami CF and the City of Miami, as evidenced by the volume of interest and questions that have been received, according to McCorkle. Everyone wants to be a part of the new entertainment district we’re building, which will be the focus of Miami’s family-friendly events and activities.”We are in talks with big attraction operators, hotel chains, stadium sponsors, restaurant chains, cultural organizations, and many other intriguing potential partners. At Miami Freedom Park, we’ll provide them with an amazing house.
The Miami-based architecture firm Arquitectonica, the international arena and stadium design company Manica, and the large-scale stadium project managers CAA Icon make up the Miami Freedom Park team.
