According to Alan Nixon, Manchester United rejected an offer from Everton to borrow Harry Maguire for the season, but West Ham is keeping an eye on the situation.
The newspaper journalist said on his Patreon page that Everton had offered to cover £50,000 per week of Maguire’s salary, which is believed to be closer to four times that amount. This would make it difficult for any team looking to sign Maguire.
After having a previous effort to buy the England international defender fails due to his pay demands, West Ham is anticipated to try their luck at a greater price for him.
A daring attempt
Everton’s attempt to entice Maguire to Goodison Park was undoubtedly audacious because it never seems possible that United would cover such a large portion of his salary. The main reason why United wants to let him go is because of his salary, but in addition to his transfer fee, no clubs can pay it.
Sean Dyche adores Maguire after working with him at both Burnley and Everton, and the Manchester United defender would bring plenty of experience to the position. Maguire would likely slot into Everton’s defense alongside veteran James Tarkowksi.
For Dyche, he would be the ideal player. a seasoned England international and a homegrown athlete who, although recently losing the captaincy of Manchester United to Bruno Fernandes, has leadership experience.
Maguire would undoubtedly benefit Everton’s team, despite the harsh criticism he has received from the media. Gareth Southgate’s continuous faith in his abilities should demonstrate how well-regarded he is, and he would seamlessly fit into Dyche’s system.
