In order to fill in for the injured defender, the Red Devils have subsequently been forced to use Diogo Dalot at left-back.

Several candidates have been mentioned in connection with the club as Shaw’s replacements.

Marc Cucurella of Chelsea and Reguilon of Tottenham were said to be the key targets.

According to Fabrizio Romano, they have agreed a deal for Reguilon to join the club on loan for the season.

“Sergio Reguilón to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place with Tottenham on loan deal

“Understand medical tests are taking place right now!

“There will be clause to break loan deal in January. Marc Cucurella deal, OFF”.

.

The Athletic adds that Reguilon has completed his medical at Old Trafford.

It is suggested that the club will also have a “break clause” in the deal that can be triggered in January.

The Spaniard is likely to fill in for injured players Shaw and Tyrell Malacia while he is still with the team.

Shaw could miss up to ten weeks of work due to his current condition.

Malacia, who has been sidelined since before preseason because of an injury, is still out for the time being.

26-year-old Reguilon originally signed on with Tottenham in 2020, but after falling down the ranks, he spent the previous season up loan at Atletico Madrid.

He only made 11 LaLiga appearances for the squad, therefore the move proved ineffective.

A move by United to address their left-back deficiency has already been linked to Rico Henry, a star for Brentford.
