MASON Greenwood has signed for a Spanish team on loan just minutes before the transfer window closed.
The striker, 21, has not played since January 2022 after being arrested.
Mason Greenwood has signed for a Spanish team on loan from Man United

La Liga club Getafe have completed a last minute loan deal for the striker
Although all charges were dropped in February, the Old Trafford organization announced last week that Greenwood would be leaving the club.
Getafe, a La Liga team, has now signed Greenwood to a season-long loan contract, pending international clearance.
It’s improbable that he will be registered in time for the Spanish team’s trip to Real Madrid tomorrow afternoon.
On September 17, Getafe’s game against Osasuna, Greenwood is most likely to make his debut.
According to reports, United will not be paying a loan fee for Greenwood and will be paying the majority of his salary.
The Madrid-based side will also cover a small contribution for his wages for the duration of the loan.
A United club statement read: “The move enables Greenwood to begin to rebuild his career away from Manchester United.
“The club will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition.”
Getafe is presently ranked twelve in the league and plays in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, which has a seating capacity of 17,393.
MailOnline reports that Chief John Murtough has seized control of the transfer preparations to Getafe.
Greenwood had allegedly been on track to be accepted back into the fold prior to SunSport’s exclusive report that United had altered its mind in response to the explosive response.
It was said that other English clubs refused to let Greenwood play again due to similar public reaction worries.
The transfer window deadline passed for English clubs at 11pm, with initial inquiries from domestic teams not followed up.
Greenwood, who makes £75,000 a week, might have left United liable for up to £8 million if he hadn’t been sold.
He has two years left on his contract, and the club has the option to extend it by another year, so this is the case.
Greenwood had no choice but to be compelled to join a club overseas.
Today morning, Greenwood was reportedly granted a last-ditch reprieve by Lazio, a top European team, but the Italian deadline had passed by 7 o’clock.
There were no inquiries from Saudi Arabia, where teams have already signed Karim Benzema, Neymar, and Cristiano Ronaldo this season.
The Saudi Arabian deadline expires on September 7.
