As the two starting XI’s came up on screen, the image of Rashford showed him wearing socks and no boots.

It left fans in hysterics, one said: “Bro thought it wouldn’t be a full picture.”

A second commented with laughing emojis: “Someone at Sky forgot to photoshop Rashford’s boots on in his pic.”

Another added: “Bro forgot his boots at home.”

Rashford did find his boots for the game and started on the left-wing after playing as a striker in Man Utd’s opening two matches of the season.

But his return to his natural role on the left-wing paid off as he opened his account for the season with a fantastic curling effort to put his side ahead.

It left one fan joking: “He doesn’t need boots to score.”

While more reacted: “Rashford still scored with his socks.”

Arsenal swiftly responded however as Martin Odegaard equalised with a powerful strike.

There was controversy later in the game when Kai Havertz believed he had won a penalty for the Gunners, only for the decision to be overturned by VAR.

And Stockley Park intervened again as Alejandro Garnacho’s late winner was chalked off for offside.
