The Egyptian Football Association has handed Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah some time off to consider his future.
The future of Mohamed Salah is still up in the air, according to a report from The Sun. The Egyptian international, at 31 years old, may perhaps leave Liverpool. The transfer window in the Middle East is still open, despite having closed in Europe’s major divisions.
The demand for Salah’s services has been particularly strong throughout the Middle East. Al-Ittihad, a team in the Saudi Pro League, may make another mega-bid before Thursday, the last day of their transfer season.
They’d been eyeing the Liverpool superstar for some time and put in several offers on the eve of the transfer deadline. Unfortunately, a deal with the Merseyside club was not possible.
Clubs in the Saudi Pro League have reportedly spent millions on European superstars. They’ve had a lot of success, and now they want to add Salah, another great player.
The 21-year-old was offered £150 million by Al-Ittihad. The Reds, however, were quick to turn down the offer since they have no intention of trading away the Egyptian international. The Saudi Pro League team submitted a bid of £170 million within hours of the first.
They were unable to sign him before the European transfer window closed, but it is not too late. Currently, Al-Ittihad is preparing a record-breaking offer of £200 million. They are determined to get his services and are using all of their financial might to do so.
The athlete himself has been thinking about his future recently. The 31-year-old has received an unbelievable weekly salary of £2.3 million to relocate to the Middle East. The article adds that the Egypt Football Association has given the 31-year-old some breathing room to make up his mind.
The Egyptian national team used the international break to rest the Liverpool star. Egypt manager Rui Vitoria called up the 31-year-old to play in a meaningless qualifier against Ethiopia for the Africa Cup of Nations. Since his future is still up in the air, though, they have opted to play without Salah.
The 31-year-old has been granted permission to remain in the United Kingdom while further negotiations are pursued. Salah is scheduled to return for their September 12 friendly against Tunisia after being rested for their encounter against Ethiopia.
