Lionel Messi Faces Disruption: Water Bottle Thrown at Him Following Inter Miami’s Victory over LAFC, Amidst Fan Incident

After Inter Miami’s victory against LAFC on Sunday night, footage indicates that someone threw a water bottle towards Lionel Messi.

Messi, who assisted on two goals in the 3-1 victory, was leaving the field at BMO Stadium with his bodyguard when he was showered by the item.

The World Cup champion dodged the bottle, but both he and his security seemed startled as it went by.

Mail Sport has contacted MLS to get comment on the matter.

Earlier, in the 73rd minute, a field invader charged Messi.

The supporter, who was decked out in a Barcelona shirt, made it all the way to the forward and even started wrapping his arms around him.

However, Messi’s bodyguard ran onto the field to defend his client and easily peeled the fan off of him.

The spectator was subsequently handed over to the stadium’s security staff.

In the end, Messi let the incident go unnoticed as he set up Leo Campana for his second assist of the game in the 83rd minute.

In the 51st minute, he set up Jordi Alba for Miami’s first goal as he sent a superbly weighted through ball to the full back.

With nine games remaining, Miami will host Sporting KC on Saturday, despite being eight points off of the last play-in berth in the Eastern Conference.
