Kylian Mbappe, a famous French soccer player, just returned from a three-day visit to Cameroon, the central African country his father fled as a child. Fans were excited to see Mbappe when he arrived on Thursday. Hundreds of fans were up to welcome the 24-year-old striker, and many of them wore the jersey of his Paris Saint-Germain squad.
Before heading to his father Wilfred’s hometown on Djelabe island, he stopped at a school that his association is helping to renovate on Saturday. The locals here praised the French actress.
Kylian Mbappe was required to visit his ancestral homeland. Every tree has roots, and eventually you will have to go back to where you came from. It’s a good sign and a good time for him to finally settle down, so I don’t blame him. Without making any wild assumptions, I believe a lot will happen in his life following that. During a visit to the family’s new home, Kylian Mbappe’s uncle Nkalla gave a tour, taking the opportunity to talk about his nephew, the French national team star striker.
This is the place where Mbappe’s (the player’s) father was born. “This place was a dirt shack before,” Nkalla explained. And then it all progressed. The family opted to rebuild after seeing the results, as you can see. “By the grace of God, I’m here with my nephew, and you see how it is (now),” Nkalla continued.
Kylian Mbappe was greeted with a standing ovation and a sea of children eager to touch him as he autographed soccer shirts for them at the Bonendale school.
‘This school, you know, we used to go here and it was really very old and we’re very happy that he came here to renovate it because for future generations, it will be very important to go to school in such a well-developed, modern setting,’ Ngue Stanislas, a former student of Bonendale high school, said. We appreciate all he’s done for us, and we want him to keep going strong so he can finish what he’s started.
The prolific forward had a match against FC Vent d’Etoudi of Cameroon’s second tier canceled on Friday due to safety concerns.
Wilfried Mbappé, Kylian’s dad, left Cameroon when he was young to become a football coach in France. Mbappe’s future with Paris Saint-Germain has been the subject of much speculation, hence his visit.
Last month, Mbappe announced that he would not be extending his contract, which is set to expire in the next year. However, he has since hinted that he would like to stay for one more season.
Therefore, the club must sell the player within the current transfer window or risk losing him for free when his contract expires.
Nasser al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG, said on Wednesday that Mbappe “must sign a new contract” if he wants to continue playing for the club next year.
After signing for PSG from Monaco in August 2017 for 180 million euros ($196 million), he quickly rose to prominence on the international stage.
