Summary of Man Utd players’ performances on national team: Eriksen, Hojlund had a hard victory; Captain Jonny Evan is in big trouble

Manchester United’s Danish duo Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund were both in action on Sunday evening, as Denmark beat Finland 1-0 in Euro 2024 qualifying thanks to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s late strike.

In Helsinki, our number 14 was active for the entire 90 minutes, with Hojlund being introduced at the start of the second half.

After 19 minutes of play at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, Eriksen’s rasping free-kick was expertly saved by Finland goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky.

The Red and Whites enjoyed plenty of possession of the ball throughout the match, but they were forced to be patient. Kasper Hjulmand was operating out of his typically inventive number ten position for his team.

.

United’s summer signing Hojlund did well during his 45-minute cameo and stretched Finland’s backline throughout, marking his 8th cap for his country with victory in Group H.

Another Red was in action earlier in the day when Jonny Evans, a defender, led his nation as captain in Astana, Kazakhstan, where Northern Ireland lost 1-0.

.

Evans played the full 90 minutes, much like Eriksen, and Maksim Samorodov’s goal in the first half was the game-winning goal.

That result follows on from the Green and White Army’s 4-2 defeat to Slovenia on Thursday, leaving them 5th in Group H after six games played.

The trio are all now set to return to Carrington later this week, with the focus quickly turning to United’s next Premier League outing against Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday
