‘Best in the world’ – Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes hailed after HAT-TRICK of assists as Portugal record biggest-ever win

BRUNO FERNANDES was hailed “best in the world” by Manchester United fans as he produced a HAT-TRICK of assists in a record win for Portugal.

The 29-year-old midfielder even managed to get on the scoresheet himself as his country thumped Luxembourg 9-0 in Monday’s Euro 2024 qualifier.

In the 12th minute at the Estadio Algarve, Goncalo Inacio scored the game’s first goal after Fernandes crossed the ball with the outside of his foot.

Just before halftime at the conclusion of the first half, he again served as Inacio’s provider.

A magnificent ball was floated over the top for Liverpool’s Diogo Jota to rush on and score to make it 5-0, and he picked up his third assist later in the period.

After scoring the ninth goal in the nine-goal thrashing, Fernandes added his name to the goal glut.

Despite he and United’s rollercoaster start to the campaign in the Premier League, that continued his incredible form on the international stage.

No player has been directly involved in more Euro qualifying goals than Fernandes so far thanks to his five assists and three goals in six matches.

And after clips of his latest outstanding performance for Portugal hit social media, United fans quickly took to Twitter to hail their maestro.

“Best in the world,” declared one as another said he was “running the show”.

Another called him “Magnifico” as a fellow United supporter labelled the ace a “creative machine”.

The outcome was also Portugal’s largest win ever, surpassing their 8-0 records over Liechtenstein and Kuwait.

And if they defeat Slovakia at home on October 13 and Luxembourg loses away to Iceland, they will be able to qualify for the Euros in Germany with three games remaining.
