Anthony Martial was seen driving into Manchester United’s Carrington base on Thursday morning and leaving just five minutes later days – because he’d made a simple mistake

Anthony Martial has been spotted leaving Manchester United training just five minutes after he arrived.

The French forward drove into the Trafford Training Centre, based in Carrington, at 8:56am on Thursday morning as preparation for Saturday’s visit of Brighton following the international break continue.

However, the 27-year-old drove back out after just five minutes because Erik ten Hag’s side were not due in until later for training and he wasn’t keen to hang around. Training times have varied this week with a 9am start on Tuesday and 11:30am start on Wednesday.

Thankfully, Martial didn’t have an injury problem. However, the poor timing came after Brazilian international Antony was asked to leave the club following allegations of domestic abuse, which he denies, and Jadon Sancho was frozen out for responding to his manager in a now-deleted social media post.

Following a devastating setback at Arsenal before the break, United hosts Brighton two days before the later start to training. In a week that might put pressure on Ten Hag, the Red Devils play Bayern Munich in Germany on Wednesday.

Martial is sure to play a part in the crunch week having made three appearances so far this season under the Dutchman.

The forward was named in United’s Premier League squad for the ninth consecutive season and second under Ten Hag.
