PLAYERS RATING Man United vs Brighton: Hojlund’s Bright Performance Shines Through the Gloom at Old Trafford 🌟⚽

Manchester United lost 3-1 to Brighton at home, marking their THIRD loss in five Premier League games.

After losing to Arsenal by a score of 3-1 just before the break, the Red Devils were aiming to avenge that defeat.

Brighton celebrated their outstanding win over Manchester United.

Man United’s afternoon at Old Trafford was miserable.

But on Saturday, the Man Utd supporters suffered much more heartbreak as goals from former striker Danny Welbeck, Pascal Gross, and Joao Pedro gave the visitors a convincing win at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund, a 20-year-old Danish player who cost the club £72 million, made his debut for the team but was denied an equalizer when a VAR review showed that the ball had left the field of play before Marcus Rashford cut it back for the Dane.

Additionally, Man United’s defense was often breached by Roberto De Zerbi’s forwards.

Here are the Red Devils’ athletes’ performances.

ANDRE ONANA – 5

He’s good at passing, but can he stop shots well enough? It’s difficult to hold him responsible for the first two goals, but he will be miffed by Pedro’s third.

Fati made a fantastic last-second stop, but the damage was already done.

DIOGO DALOT – 5

requested to switch to right-back due to Wan Bissaka’s illness and found it challenging playing against Mitoma.

His wing had too much room when the second and third goals were scored.

VICTOR LINDELOF –5

At fault for Seagulls opener as weak challenge on Lallana allowed Welbeck to score.

At the other end he wasted a good chance when he headed a corner over – that could have made it interesting had it gone in..

SERGIO REGUILON – 6

Full debut for on loan Spurs man and set up Rashford for early chance.

The Spaniard looked bright going forward with a couple of useful crosses but defensively suspect as the opener came down his flank.

CASEMIRO – 5

Needlessly blazed ball out of play shortly before Brighton’s opener but United found themselves chasing shadows.

Replaced by Hannibal just after the hour – and the youngster perked United up.

LISANDRO MARTINEZ – 5

Battled back from injury to start but made to look foolish after a feint from Gross for Seagulls second goal.

Part of a dismal defensive display but at least set up Hannibal’s goal

SCOTT McTOMINAY – 5

Could have left last month but finally got his chance to take his Scotland form on to the club stage.

Began brightly but his influence faded after the Seagulls got in front.

BRUNO FERNANDES – 6

Asked to fill the gap left by Antony and Sancho by moving out to the right of a diamond but the new skipper could not impact the game the way he usually does.

Ended up playing in defence at the end of a ragged display.

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN – 5

Lovely pirouette in the first few minutes from the Dane but the question is whether he still has the legs required.

A few uncharacteristic stray passes too as Seagulls took charge.

MARCUS RASHFORD – 6

Came as close as anyone to scoring for United but should have helped himself to a couple of goals.

Unfortunate to see a deflected shot hit the angle in the first half but misses cost his team.

RASMUS HOJLUND – 7

Rasmus Hojlund performed admirably in his maiden Man United start.

He missed a nice early opportunity and was unfortunate to have a goal disallowed late in the first half because the ball was out, but his complete debut was promising.

When he was replaced just after the hour, the crowd made their feelings known.

SUBTITUDE

HANNIBAL (FOR CASEMIRO, 64 MINS) – 7

Briliant long range goal gave United a glimmer.

ANTHONY MARTIAL (FOR HOJLUND, 64 MINS) – 5

accomplished little to persuade those who weren’t in favor of him joining.

85 minutes for ALEJANDRO GARNACHO (FOR REGUILON) – 5

When he entered the game, United was already over.

85 seconds, AARON WAN BISSAKA (FOR MARTINEZ) – 5

Unable to start because of illness, which cost United.

85-MINUTE FACUNDO PELLISTRI (FOR McTOMINAY) – 5

too late to have any impact, thrown on.
