Gary Neville’s analysis of Manchester United’s loss to Brighton has been derided by Jamie Carragher after his colleague commentator criticized the Glazer family.

After United’s 3-1 loss against the Seagulls, Neville criticized the Glazers on X, saying that the problem starts at the top. Carragher, however, made fun of the legendary right-back for Manchester United by claiming that former chairman Martin Edwards, not Sir Alex Ferguson, was ultimately responsible for all of the team’s championships. He also targeted Andre Onana for his inability to maintain a clean sheet.

Neville’s assessment of United’s loss against Brighton was criticized by Carragher, who stated: “All this time I thought Alex Ferguson stopped us from winning the Premier League, but it was actually Martin Edwards.”

“You still on here after your Onana piece?” Neville said. The tweet looked to be a reference to Carragher’s assertion that the goalkeeper berated Harry Maguire in preseason in an effort to win over the supporters of the Red Devils.

Following up, Carragher said, “Even more so after today! After today’s game, they [the Glazers] will be even more disappointed. Tell him to stop pointing at players and start blocking shots with his hands instead.

Although Onana had to have performed better in the third goal, he wasn’t the main factor in Man Utd’s defeat by Brighton. For the Red Devils in the Premier League, Onana has only kept a clean sheet once every five games. The international goalkeeper from Cameroon hasn’t proven that he has the skills necessary to properly fill David De Gea’s role.

United has struggled mightily this season, losing three of their last four games, with their lone win coming over Nottingham Forest. The Glazers have said they are eager to sell the club, but the process is still taking too long despite approaches from Qatar and a group led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
