NO SOUL: Fans criticized Man Utd board after watching McTominay’s performance with 12 lost balls

Furious Manchester United fans have slammed Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay after his “terrible” performance against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

McTominay was brutally criticised from fans after viral footage showed him casually tracking back in United’s 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

During his minutes on the field, the Scottish midfielder passed only 81% accuracy, won 2/8 duels, 0/3 aerial duels and lost the ball 12 times.

In the frame is one of the moments that shows why Man Utd cannot control the ball. When Andre Onana sought to develop play, McTominay should have been the player who had to snatch the ball back or find a way to extend the distance of the opponent’s team.

However, McTominay is almost unaware of this. Accordingly, he completely “escaped” from the ball, causing Man Utd’s directions to the ball to be blocked.

Fans consider Man Utd’s decision to sell Fred and retain McTominay as a mistake

McTominay drew praise for his outstanding performance for Scotland during their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign during the international break in September.

The 26-year-old Scotland international has fallen down the pecking order under United manager Erik ten Hag, and he is now competing for playing time at Old Trafford.

There were rumors that McTominay might depart Old Trafford in the summer. Fulham, Bayern Munich, and West Ham were among the teams that shown interest in the United star.

Even though West Ham offered £30 million for McTominay, who is thought to be a key member of Ten Hag’s squad, United turned it down.

The United midfielder will be used on a rotational basis by Ten Hag, who isn’t hesitant to let go of players who serve no longer have a place in his team.

The United manager was relieved to abandon Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s infamous “McFred” partnership, which featured McTominay and Fred.

In order to receive more starts under Ten Hag, McTominay will need to significantly improve in light of the summer additions of Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount.
