Besides the three faces above, rookie Sofyan Amrabat played equally well. Ten Hag surprised everyone by starting the Moroccan star in the left-back role, replacing Sergio Reguilon.
The change took place in the second half when Victor Lindelof entered the field. Amrabat returned to his familiar central midfield position. Despite playing against his strengths, Amrabat delivered a completely convincing performance.
According to statistics, Amrabat successfully performed 100% of tackle situations and 100% duels won throughout his 60 minutes on the field. The 27-year-old player accurately completed 78 out of 81 passes, a very impressive success rate: 96%.
Speaking after the match, the Fiorentina midfielder said: “This is my dream since I was a child, Man United. It’s great to play here, the stadium is full of people.
“I play in every position I can to help the team, even as a goalkeeper! I go out to fight for this badge on my chest.
“Today it’s left back but I play freely. Everything is great. I always like to have the ball. Of course I’m not a natural left back but I try to give the team more options. Today everything was fine.
“Of course I am a midfielder and I prefer to play as a midfielder. But I will play wherever the team needs me.”
Amrabat’s presence brings a fresh breeze to Man United’s playing style. The Old Trafford team will have a rematch with Palace at home this weekend in the Premier League.
