Step into the Future of Luxury: Andy Waugh Reveals the Subtle ‘Elevation’ of the 80m Catamaran

The British company Andy Waugh Yacht Design created the innovative 80-meter catamaran known as Decadence. The design, which strives to capture the essence of the era via innovative feats of design and engineering, is influenced by the automotive and aeronautical achievements of the 1920s.

The Decadence, a ship with a “small-waterplane-area-twin-hull,” “exemplifies the potential of the SWATH hull form,” according to the design firm. These catamarans are distinguished by having cylindrical hulls that are submerged and stilted to a central body. They provide “unique and exciting aesthetic possibilities that have yet to be fully realized in the luxury superyacht sector,” according to the manufacturer.

A variety of technological innovations are also incorporated into the futuristic hull, including a 70% reduction in pitch and roll motions compared to a traditional monohull superyacht for greater onboard comfort and security.

The inside of the 5,000 GT yacht will be spacious, with a 30-meter beam and the potential for an owner’s room that is 20 meters long, 30 meters wide, and 3 meters high. Each deck will have completely enclosable outside spaces for extra privacy and weather protection.

The Decadence’s crew quarters and other technical departments can be moved to the sponsors and outer boats, creating more room in the main superstructure for.

The design team also understood that finding adequate marina ports for the yacht would be challenging and has come up with numerous solutions to deal with this problem. The first benefit is that the hull form’s greater stability “eliminates the need for protection from inclement weather.” Two Skyline Yachts 14-meter chase-boat tenders that act as transportation to the shore are also included in the design.

Retractable inflatable sails are also shown in renderings, suggesting that the boat will gain from more wind energy. The boat will, according to the studio, have a “radical new propulsion system” that is anticipated to cut energy use by about 30%.

The 70-meter Serafina, 175-meter Acionna, 45-meter Revolution, and 90-meter Nouveau are just a few of Andy Waugh Sailboat Design’s cutting-edge sailboat designs. A 100-meter-plus new build project for an American tech tycoon is also being worked on by the studio, and it is currently in the engineering stage at Dorries Yachts in Bremen, Germany.
