Even though it would have cost a small fortune, Kim was determined to own the piece after watching the “Barbie” movie.
In a promotional video, Kim Kardashian revealed that Usher will be performing at the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show by donning a very unusual headpiece. This 42-year-old reality personality looked great in a traditional outfit that included pants and a white T-shirt. However, a vintage Chanel necklace from the storied French fashion house’s famed spring 1995 Barbie collection was the true show-stopper of her ensemble.
In addition to being an uncommon find overall, Kim’s accessory was recently spotted on Margot Robbie in the much awaited “Barbie” film, which debuted on large screens this summer. The well-known necklace features a stunning assortment of colorful jewels, exquisite teardrop-shaped pearls, and gold double-C charms.
The segment about Margot appears early in the movie, right after she and the other Barbies devise a scheme to take Barbie Land back from the Kens. She shows up at Ken’s flashy dojo house wearing her vintage Chanel necklace and a classic pink outfit.
Notably, Kim’s item lacks the remarkably huge pink heart-shaped gemstone that Robbie’s version of the choker features at its center.
Although the necklace’s exact value is unknown, the SKIMS founder most certainly paid a hefty price for it. In the past, several other antique Barbie Chanel jewelry pieces have sold for between $2,500 and $6,500.
However, given the extraordinary rarity of the item that Robbie (and now Kim) wore and the fact that it has multiple large gemstones in it, it’s likely worth even more.
There have been previous instances of Kim being seen with the choker on. While on vacation in Japan in August, the reality star posted a number of her purchases from the trip. Kim was spotted posing in a selfie that she shared on her Instagram Story at Vintage Ecoland, a vintage designer shop that is reportedly favored by famous people.
The picture showed Kim clutching a bubblegum pink, quilted Chanel purse that had the large necklace encircling the handle. Kim, with a man who appeared to be a store employee, struck a pose for the camera while sporting her trademark duck lips.
She wrote, “OMG best shopping in Japan,” as the image’s caption. “I’m at @vintage_ecoland in my Barbie bag.”
Kim obviously went shopping, because not only was the necklace probably worth tens of thousands of dollars, but the pink Chanel bag also probably cost a lot of money, since designer purses frequently sell for more than $10,000 brand-new.
