Ariana Grande has been going crazy about real estate.
The pop singer paid $6.75 million in June 2020 for a distinctive 5,500-square-foot Tudor-style home in Montecito, less than a month after spending $13.7 million on a brand-new Hollywood Hills estate. The historic house, also known as the Porter House, was sold by well-known figures Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, who purchased and refurbished it in January 2020.
Originally erected in the 1700s in Surrey, England, the Porter House was made up of two distinct barns that were meticulously disassembled and then put back together as a single, cohesive structure in California. An orangery, a glass-enclosed area designed to house weather-sensitive plants and fruit trees, connects the two distinct sections.
The house has many period details that reflect its English heritage, such as an octagonal library with antique casement windows, lofted wood-beam ceilings, and exposed brick fireplaces. Two full and two half bathrooms, two bedrooms, and two remodeled kitchens—one with a stunning glass-fronted refrigerator—are all present.
A three-car garage, a workshop, a complete basement, and a fitness center are among the additional features. The mansion’s surrounds are equally stunning, featuring brick terraces ideal for alfresco dining and lush gardens created by landscape architect Tom Nielsen. Numerous patio spaces are shaded by mature trees, and the grounds are lined with stone walks.
Grande was a longstanding tenant of two multimillion-dollar mansions in the Los Angeles area, one in Beverly Hills and the other in Sherman Oaks, before making her two most recent real estate purchases. In 2018, she also paid $16 million for an apartment in Chelsea, where she resided with her then-boyfriend Pete Davidson.
Even after this sale, DeGeneres and de Rossi will probably still be spotted in Montecito because they own a second property there, a $27 million villa in the Balinese style that they purchased in the beginning of 2019.
