Over the coming months, including the summer, Hugh “Wolverine” Jackman and his family will be filming “Deadpool 3” in Vancouver. They have made the decision to rent out their gorgeous contemporary mansion in East Hampton, which is located on Gardiner’s Bay and has a private sandy beach, to another wealthy person or family for a high price as they will no longer need it.
If someone is ready to pay the $500,000 needed for a Memorial Day to Labor Day rental, the Jackmans’ loss this summer might be someone else’s gain. If the price is fair and does not cause heart palpitations, get in touch with Martha Gundersen and Paul Brennan at Douglas Elliman or Susan Breitenbach at Corcoran. Even at this price, the jaw-dropping creation of the Jackmans is not expected to be available for long.
In 2015, Jackman paid about $7.5 million for two waterfront houses with his wife, the former actress and producer Deborra-Lee Furness. Two replacement homes, one larger than the other, were designed by reputable modernist architects Stelle Lomont Rouhani. The house has five bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms, and it sits on 2.5 acres. Both homes are magnificent examples of minimalism and modern architecture. They have every opulent facility and are located on a promontory with a view of the bay to optimize the views.
Three bedrooms with private bathrooms are found in the modern main house, which also has a gourmet kitchen with Gaggenau appliances. The hand-carved, solid bleached walnut dining table in the casual dining room was manufactured to order by Field & Co. Floor to ceiling glass doors provide for plenty of natural light and vistas.
The two-bedroom guesthouse offers a loft for sleeping and relaxing, a living room with lounge-style furniture, and an open living space with a luxury kitchen. One of the suites looks out onto the pool and spa and offers a spectacular 180-degree view of the bay.
While Puff Daddy Diddy, or whatever he’s called these days, hasn’t been spotted in the area recently, his all-white home is just down the road, as is that of legendary fashion designer Donna Karan. Numerous other high-profile people have been drawn to the area over the years by its tranquility and the placid waters of the bay.
The Broadway version of “The Music Man,” in which Jackman is now singing and dancing, has recently seen some remarkable real estate deals. His West Village triplex was put up for sale last summer for $38.9 million, and it is still available for that amount. He spent around $21 million on a four-bedroom penthouse in West Chelsea in the fall.
