The MLB free agent has claimed Dover Shores, a neighborhood near Newport Beach, as his place of residence.
With his sights set on landing a dream real estate purchase in Southern California, Justin Upton is completely set to go. The former Anaheim Angels outfielder is asking just less than $6.8 million for his elegantly designed Newport Beach estate, which is listed by Annie Clougherty of Compass, as first reported by the Orange County Register.
Documents indicate that Upton and his spouse Ashley paid $4.7 million in the spring of 2020 for the contemporary farmhouse-style residences, which were redesigned by Scottsdale-based DeCesare Design Group after being first created by architect Randall Coombs. The nearly 6,000 square foot, white wood-sided building, which was finished in 2019, has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, reclaimed oak hardwood floors, brass fixtures and Lutron lighting throughout, and a stunning floating staircase with solid oak stairs.
Nestled on a less than quarter-acre lot in the sought-after Dover Shores area next to the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, this three-story home is immediately striking upon arrival thanks to its sunken living room with fireplace. Sliding barn doors open to reveal a quaint nook; a gourmet kitchen with Thermador appliances, lava stone countertops, and an eat-in island topped with butcher block is connected to the family room and dining area.
A luxurious master retreat is located upstairs and features a fireplace, sitting area, private balcony, walk-in closet, and spa-like bath with dual vanities, soaking tub, and separate shower. A surround-sound screening room and a full wet bar with refrigerator, popcorn maker, beer froster, and other appliances are located downstairs.
Outside, the turf-covered backyard features a large terrace with built-in fire pit and barbeque that’s perfect for outdoor entertaining. According to the listing, there’s also plenty of space to build a pool. A moutcourt and associated three-car garage are also present.
In 2022, 36-year-old Upton became a free agent. After being selected as the #1 selection in the 2005 draft straight out of high school, he started his professional baseball career in 2007 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He later joined the Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels, and Seattle Mariners. In addition to winning three Silver Slugger Awards, he was chosen for four All-Star teams.
