‘What’s De Gea’s number?’ – Fans are ɑngry with Onana’s disɑstrous performance with TWO errors, 59% pass accuracy causing Man Utd to fail over Galatasaray

The Manchester United goalkeeper endured a torrid evening at Old Trafford as his side were again beaten in the Champions League.

Andre Onana’s error resulted in a Galatasaray penalty

Having already been at fault for the move which saw the visitors awarded a penalty, Onana then failed to cover himself in glory as Mauro Icardi scored a late winner.

Prior to the winning goal, it was Onana’s misplaced pass was intercepted by Dries Mertens, who was then brought down inside the penalty area by Casemiro.

To make matters worse, the midfielder was shown a second yellow card for the challenge and sent off.

Fortunately for Onana, though, Mauro Icardi fired the resulting spot-kick wide to spare the keeper’s blushes.

Icardi would make amends minutes later, though, scoring past Onana after going through 1-on-1.

During the time he was on the pitch, the Cameroonian only made one save.

He failed to make any punch, high claim or complete a run out from his goalline.

Onana made two errors that led to a goal for Galatasaray. The 27-year-old had 34 touches of the ball.

A major strength of Onana is his ability on the ball. He was poor in this aspect. He only had a pass accuracy of 59% to his name.

Out of the 16 long balls he tried to ping to his teammates, the former Inter Milan was only successful on seven occasions.

Onana’s display prompted fans to ask if De Gea will be making a return.

One angry supporter commented: “De Gea is still without a club, what’s his number?”

Another fumed: “WHAT IS HE DOING?!”

Meanwhile, a third simply wrote: “Simply awful.”

Onana had previously made an error leading to a goal in United’s opening defeat to Bayern Munich last month.

The former Ajax man was brought in this summer to replace De Gea following the end of his contract.

De Gea is still without a club, though, having failed to agree terms with a new team since his Old Trafford exit.
