The Cameroon star joined the Red Devils in a £47million move from Inter Milan in the summer.

Andre Onana’s key weakness has been pointed out

Onana, 27, has made some high-profile mistakes

Onana worked with boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax and was supposed to resolve United’s goalkeeping woes after replacing David de Gea.

He has so far struggled at Old Trafford, however, making a series of key errors.

According to the Telegraph, opposition analysts have spotted Onana’s tendency to stay on his line.

They believe that this invites shots on goal, by failing to close down the angle.

Some opponents have even been told to take early snapshots against Onana, believing that he can be caught out.

The 27-year-old is known to come off his line when in possession of the ball.

But he has made a habit of scampering back to his line when his team don’t have the ball.

Onana’s tendency can also leave him susceptible to players racing in behind.

Andre Onana has had a difficult start to life at Man United

Tuesday night, Galatasaray defeated United 3-2 thanks to a goal from Wilfried Zaha, who was able to beat United’s offside trap by latching onto Davinson Sanchez’s long ball.

After receiving a pass from Sanchez, Mauro Icardi was likewise successful in scoring because Onana had already committed to the ground.

Prior to joining United, the former Ajax goalkeeper received high accolades for his ball handling skills.

He hasn’t convinced me yet, though, as evidenced by Casemiro’s red card and Galatasaray’s penalty as a result of a terrible pass.

Manager Erik ten Hag has supported Onana despite his mistakes, and the Dutchman campaigned to be reunited with him in the summer.

Asked about the possibility of dropping his first choice stopper, Ten Hag said: “He can be one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

“We have seen already his great capabilities and also his personality.

“He will make a mistake and bounce back, and will do so again, I am sure.”
