It’s a family affair tonight at Anfield as Liverpool’s Europa League clash against Union Saint-Gilloise pits Alexis Mac Allister in opposition to his older brother Kevin.

Alexis Mac Allister plays agaisnt his brother, Kevin Mac Allister for the first time as their father watches on.

The Reds’ social media team posted a video of the Argentine duo smiling as they shot the breeze with each other pitchside and took in their illustrious surroundings.

During their catch-up, Alexis was sipping from a drink, which he then handed to his brother. Given the World Cup winner’s proclaimed fondness for maté, the herbal brew also enjoyed by some of his South American teammates at Liverpool, we’re guessing that’s what was being savoured!

Fans have spotted Alexis Mac Allister’s lock screen on his phone ahead of Liverpool’s Europa League clash against Union Saint-Gilloise.

The European fixtures sees a Mac Allister in each line-up, with Alexis’ older brother, Kevin, in the ranks for the Belgium outfit.

The 24-year-old won’t be able to go up against his brother until Jurgen Klopp brings him off the bench.

The Argentinean brothers shared a video call before Thursday’s match, where Alexis revealed that he couldn’t believe Liverpool were drawn in the same group as Union Saint-Gilloise.

“I remember one of the staff told me that we were in the same group,” he said.

“I couldn’t believe it. I told him to show me because I thought it wasn’t true. For me, it was pretty special.”

Kevin, a defender, who only signed for the club in July, added: “It is a dream to play against my brother at Anfield”

Brothers Alexis and Kevin Mac Allister gave a rare joint interview and it’s already the best of the season.

But while it was a hard-fought contest on the pitch, it was all love between the Mac Allister brothers at full-time, as they gave a heartfelt double interview after the game.

“It was really nice for the family, very emotional,” Alexis told TNT Sports. “I’ve played against my older brother before but never against Kevin – it was special. My dad was here too, he knows what it means, he cried a little bit.”

Kevin added: “He was the reason I suffer today, but it was a very special moment. Of course, Liverpool, maybe in the last match, come to Belgium and we can get revenge maybe.

Asked whether they will swap shirts after the game, Alexis joked: “I don’t know if he wants a shirt from another player!”
