Drake, one of the most well-known and wealthy rappers in the world, was recently given an antique Rolls-Royce Phantom as a birthday present.
Drake, like many other well-known rappers, got his start in the industry from humble beginnings. On the occasion of his 35th birthday, he wrote, “In 2007, I rented a Rolls-Royce Phantom and refurbished the car to polish myself and convince others that I have enough ability to do things,” with a hint of nostalgia. The entire monthly income of $5,000 was put toward the aforementioned goal.
This rapper, who is now worth an estimated $200 million, got his start when he and several buddies took an ancient Rolls-Royce Phantom to their first gig in Montreal.
Drake could afford hundreds of Rolls-Royces with the money he makes now, but the musician has his heart set on an older model, the Phantom. On his last birthday, a buddy tracked down and bought him the identical automobile that propelled him to fame and fortune.
In retrospect, Drake said, “put himself into financial difficulty just by trying to express himself through unnecessary material things” with the Phantom. He needs to see and touch the tangible things out there to make him want to rise up and actually possess them, thus this is also a means for him to test himself.
Drake’s collection of luxury automobiles includes not just the iconic Rolls-Royce Phantom but also a $2.2 million Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir and a once-displayed Rolls-Royce Cullinan. presented in Miami, Florida’s Museum of Contemporary Art.
