Luka Doncic, now a member of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, played in a preseason exhibition game against his former team, Real Madrid Basket, last night.
When the Slovenian ball defender went back to his former country, he was greeted with open arms. Doncic faced off against his previous squad in front of an estimated 13,000 Madrid fans.
Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, presented Doncic with an honorary membership badge on the pitch before the game.
I’m at a loss for words; today is a momentous occasion. “I’ve been looking forward to this match all summer,” Doncic said. I finally got to put names with faces of the people that were on my squad back in the day. As always, I appreciate your help.
Toni Kroos, Lucas Vazquez, Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba, Dani Ceballos, and Brahim Diaz were among the several Real Madrid men’s soccer players who did not participate in the national squad but were in attendance at Wizink Arena.
The guy born in 1999 only played for approximately 5 minutes and scored 9 points because he was still not in the ideal shape owing to hip soreness after a recent practice session. The final score was 123-127 in favor of Real Madrid Basket over the Dallas Mavericks.
Since 2016, this is the first time Madrid has hosted an NBA preseason exhibition game. Doncic and Real Madrid Basket were victorious over the Oklahoma City Thunder at the moment.
