CASEMIRO has become the latest Manchester United star to suffer an injury.
The 31-year-old has picked up an ankle issue while playing for Brazil.
Casemiro is the latest Man Utd star to be hit by the club’s injury crisis
Casemiro hobbled off 79 minutes in to their 1-1 draw with Venezuela.
Brazil manager Fernando Diniz revealed the news, saying: “He asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle.”
It is unclear whether he will be fit to play against Uruguay on Tuesday or in Man Utd’s next match against Sheffield United next Saturday.
Casemiro is the latest Red Devils star to sustain a problem this season with the likes of Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all expected to be unavailable for long time.
Raphael Varane, Sergio Reguilon, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo are also currently in the treatment room.
Even summer signings Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund have had injury problems since arriving at Old Trafford.
Man Utd are launching an investigation into the persistent fitness issues.
Director of Football John Murtough said: “There are some strong mitigations for the mixed results so far, including 16 first-team players being injured or unavailable for periods since the start of the season.
“That’s two-thirds of the squad and means that Erik ten Hag has not been able to pick his strongest XI once this season.
“We’re also looking at why we’ve had so many injuries to see if there’s any patterns to improve prevention in future.”
It is important to know that the home team at Old Trafford will have many different important matches after the national team gathering ends.
Man Utd signed Casemiro worth £70 million from Real Madrid last summer. He proved important to the Red Devils and continued to start all 8 Premier League matches this season.
