This Cape Cod-style sanctuary, with koi and turtle ponds and a sought-after Little Dume Beach key, is listed for $7 million.
After less than four years of ownership, Gavin Hood has made the decision to split ways with his compound in the prestigious Point Dume neighborhood of Malibu.
The Oscar-winning South African director, who is best known for his work on Rendition, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ender’s Game, and Tsotsi, is requesting precisely $7 million for the Cape Cod-style spread, which he originally purchased for roughly $4 million, back during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Constructed in 2003 and nestled on a fenced and double-gated property covering slightly more than an acre, the wood-sided building has three bedrooms and a matching number of bathrooms spread across nearly 3,800 square feet of two-story living space with high ceilings, dark hardwood floors, and an abundance of natural light.
Right outside the front entrance is a koi pond. The foyer leads to a private office with built-in bookcases and a formal sitting/music room, both of which have rustic stone fireplaces. A family room, dining area with a wet bar, and gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, an eat-in island, and Sub-Zero and GE Monogram appliances are some of the other highlights.
Every bedroom is upstairs, including a large master suite with a balcony overlooking the Santa Monica Mountains and the ocean; the suite also features a walk-in closet and a bath with a cozy soaking tub. Outside, the resort-style grounds include a raised spa and infinity-edge pool, a private hammock, a barbecue and bar area, and multiple areas perfect for entertaining and relaxing al fresco.
Completing the picture are two attached garage bays that stand next to a separate, two-story guesthouse with a living space, bedroom, and bathroom. The guesthouse also features French doors that open to a turtle pond fed by a waterfall and equipped with a meditation deck. Together with an outdoor shower to clean up after your surf session, there’s a much sought-after key to Little Dume Beach.
Nerissa Hood and Michelle Butler of Engel & Völkers Calabasas are the owners of the listing.
