The Weeknd, an R&B musician also known as Abel Tesfaye off-stage, purchased a Bel Air home in one of the priciest purchases to take place in Los Angeles this year. The residence’s living space is more than 33,000 square feet, which is a substantial amount. A sports court, an infinity pool with a waterfall, and a dynamic split staircase connecting the upper patio to the lawn are among the outside features of the home. The inside of the house comprises a gym, theater, music studio, sauna, hammam, and indoor pool.
These facilities are located on a 1.6-acre property that looks out over the Bel Air Country Club. Just a few months prior, Madonna purchased the singer of “Blinding Lights”‘ former residence.
The Weeknd’s new ultra-luxurious property’s previous owners, Dutch media tycoon Reinout Oerlemans and his wife, competitive cyclist Danielle Oerlemans, weren’t even planning on selling the property before Rayni and Branden Williams of the Beverly Hills Estates expressed interest in showing Tesfaye the property. The Oerlemans were ultimately represented by the Williams team, and Tesfaye by Angel Salvador, another Beverly Hills Estates agent.
The Oerlemans paid $21.4 мιℓℓιо𝚗 for the house in 2015, and over the next three years, they added 13,000 square feet of space and many of the luxuries listed above. They also gave the house its modern appearance, which was an essential upgrade from its early-2000s aesthetic. The home has many distinctive details, such as kitchen drawer handles made from leather belts, living room walls painted in orange gloss, and an office with walls covered with subdued wooden sunburst panels. The three-time Grammy Award winner’s potential redecoration plans are still unknown.
