The Brazilian football player Neymar has a passion for high-end automobiles, and his collection of supercars is among the best in the world. But his interests go beyond automobiles. Neymar spent an estimated $13.7 million USD for a Mercedes-Benz Airbus H-145 personal helicopter in 2019.
The black paint job on the chopper was inspired by Batman, Neymar’s favorite superhero.
Launched in 2015, the Mercedes-Benz Airbus H-145 is a light personal helicopter with two engines. This is a joint venture between the renowned Airbus Helicopters and the German automaker Mercedes-Benz.
Two Turbomeca Arriel 2E engines, each with 900 horsepower, power the helicopter. Its dry weight is 2,449 kg, and its top speed is 240 km/h. Its range is 640 km.
The H-145 has a maximum cargo capacity of 3,700 kg and can accommodate up to 8 passengers, 2 pilots, and luggage. Its size, measuring 11.69 x 2.4 x 4 meters (without propellers), make it a desirable option among personal helicopters. The Helionix avionics, which provide all required information and support the pilot in any circumstance, are operated via three sizable screens in the cockpit.
Additionally, the Mercedes-Benz Airbus H-145 has automated takeoff, stability support at high altitude, and the most sophisticated 4-axis autopilot system available. Mercedes-Benz designed the passenger cabin, which included an upgraded entertainment system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a luxurious leather upholstery.
Brazil is the home of Neymar’s own helicopter, which he frequently uses to get to the national team’s training area. Neymar’s obsession with Batman served as the inspiration for the glossy black paint job that covers the entire chopper. NJR, which stands for Neymar Jr., is the initials shown on the helicopter’s tail.
The helicopter purchase cost 10 million pounds, or 13.7 million USD. This is more expensive than the villa behind, which only cost 7 million pounds. Neymar’s own helicopter is a representation of his wealth, success, and extravagant way of living.
