BRUNO FERNANDES was the hero for Manchester United as they beat Fulham 1-0.

The midfielder scored a last-minute winner after cooly slotting past Bernd Leno from the edge of the box.

Antony was hooked on 64 minutes for his dire display

But United also had Andre Onana to thank for the win as the goalkeeper kept his side in it with some brilliant saves.

The Red Devils were under constant pressure in the second half as Onana palmed away shots from Harry Wilson and Joao Palhinha.

United, on the other hand, did not put up much of an effort, and Antony was substituted just after the hour mark after failing to impress again.

They had an opportunity to take the lead through a goal from Scott McTominay in the first half, but the goal was ruled offside due to Harry Maguire’s interference with the build-up.

Then, to secure United’s first victory in three games, Fernandes emerged with an unexpected winner.

Here is how we rated the United display.

Andre Onana – 6

Two crucial saves in the space of a minute from Wilson and Palhinha to save United’s bacon.

Didn’t have anything to do before then but it was a good job for Ten Hag that he was on hand to bail him out when needed.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6

Back in the starting line-up after a two-month absence, he did OK defensively but offered nothing going forward.

Will be happy with the clean sheet and some much-needed minutes.

Harry Maguire – 6

Looked to be down and out when he took a first minute blow to the head and appeared to still be groggy when he was ordered to have treatment by the ref on the hour.

But he kept coming back for more and cleared more high balls than anyone.

Jonny Evans – 6

The 35-year-old centre-back struggled when Fulham ran at him with pace, but was able to use his nous to ensure he wasn’t exposed too often.

Relished his physical battle with rookie striker Rodrigo Muniz and organised his defence well.

Diogo Dalot – 6

Crucial intervention to prevent Wilson from reaching Willian’s deep cross.

This was a big improvement on his midweek horror show against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup, mind you, it could hardly have been worse.

Scott McTominay – 7

It says everything about United’s current problems when McTominay is their best player.

Desperately unfortunate to have an early goal chalked off by VAR and put in a real shift in the middle of the park.

Christian Eriksen – 5

Looked like he was running through treacle at times, the Danish playmaker simply doesn’t have the engine to dominate in physical games like this.

Astonishing he lasted 78 minutes before being put out of his misery.

Bruno Fernandes – 6

The under-fire United captain looked to be having yet another of those frustrating afternoons when he spent more time complaining than playing.

But just when United were calling out for a hero, he stepped up to snatch all three points with a 90th-minute winner into the bottom corner.

Antony – 4

The Brazilian show pony has an uncanny knack of winding up his team-mates every bit as much as the opposition.

Offered absolutely nothing before being subbed off with half an hour to go.

Rasmus Hojlund – 5

The wait for a first Premier League goal continues for the £72million striker.

There is obviously a player in there, but he was completely starved of service and cut a frustrated figure up-front without ever threatening to end his drought.

Alejandro Garnancho – 6

In for the absent Marcus Rashford, he delivered an excellent early cross to tee up McTominay for his disallowed goal.

But he rapidly faded as an attacking force and most of his best work was tracking back to help Dalot in a defensive capacity.

Inadvertently teed up Fernandes’ winner when the ball ricocheted off him three times as Fulham failed to clear their lines. 6

Hard to believe he cannot get into this starting line-up.
