Madea is followed by Steve Harvey. Those roadblocks are always entertaining. A $15 million property in Atlanta’s affluent Buckhead neighborhood has reportedly been purchased by comedian-turned-talk-show-host and self-help author Harvey and his wife Marjorie.
With enough episodes, Harvey and Perry might launch their own network. Presenter of “Celebrity Family Feud,” “Showtime at the Apollo,” and “Miss Universe,” this 63-year-old man has quite the resume. Perry has series on BET, Netflix, OWN, and Nickelodeon. Both of these performers started out as vagrants before finding fame and fortune in show business.
The 35,000 square foot estate that Perry listed for an outrageous $25 million in 2014 eventually sold for $17.5 million in 2016. Despite the multibillion-dollar difference between the asking and selling prices, the mansion was Atlanta’s priciest real estate transaction ever.
Take a deep breath before delving into the details of the home’s seven bedrooms and 9.5 bathrooms. The property features 17 acres of manicured grounds and gardens, a pool with an infinity edge, a tennis court with lights, a gym, and a spa.
The opulent property contains a caretakers’ quarters, a guardhouse, a separate caretaker’s house, a sophisticated security system, and a backup generator. There is a theater, indoor pool, wine cellar, and underground ballroom with a catering kitchen in the main home, which is decorated in the style of French Provincial.
According to buckhead.com, former businessman turned evangelist David Turner bought Perry and sold Harvey. Both his business and his new home make no sense. “I went online and saw this house and I felt like God told me, ‘This is your house,'” he told the media. When Turner sold the mansion, he lost $2.5 million before deducting carrying costs, improvements, and real estate commissions.
Harvey also has a sizable piece of real estate in Atlanta, as well as a mansion in Little Elm, Texas, with five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, offered for $1.1 million. Previously, he and his family had been renting a mansion in the exclusive Beverly Park guard-gated community in the hills above Beverly Hills, California, for a cool $100,000 per month.
