Touchdown for Marcus Stroman: Scores Multi-Million Dollar Malibu Beachfront Property

The starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, Marcus Stroman, paid a little over $8 million for a mansion on a Malibu blufftop that had never been officially posted for sale. He and his long-term partner, fitness model and trainer Shannon Nadj, are expected to move in together.

In the spring of 2007, Stroman purchased the Spanish-style home from a seasoned CBRE executive who had owned it for 16 years. The sale price was $4.2 million.

Built in 2003 with sandy-colored stucco and a terracotta roof, the building is discreetly hidden behind gates on a level, almost 1.5-acre plot of land perched high above Carbon Beach. Views of the beach and city lights are magnificent from almost anywhere on the property, and a motorcourt and attached garage are conveniently positioned up front.

Inside, you’ll find a magnificent layout with five bedrooms and six bathrooms spread across little over 5,100 square feet of space, highlighted by stone floors and high wood-accented ceilings in strategic areas. An additional one-bedroom, one-bathroom guesthouse is available.

Some of the best features include the elegant living and dining rooms, the cozy family room with a fireplace, and the spacious kitchen with an adjacent breakfast nook, an eat-in island, and stainless steel appliances. A separate wing houses the master suite, which features a fireplace, walk-in closet, and luxurious bathroom with twin sinks, a jacuzzi tub, and a glass-enclosed shower. There’s also a wine cellar and a bedroom that doubles as a study.

In addition to the infinity pool and spa, the landscaped grounds feature winding walks, a built-in grill station, a conversation area with a fire pit, and other areas for al fresco dining and lounging. Deeded access to the La Costa Beach and Tennis Club is included in the purchase of the property.

Stroman played for the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets before joining the Cubs in 2021. He was an All-Star, won a Gold Glove, and played for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic. The 31-year-old New York native just purchased a home in Malibu, and he already owned a bespoke seaside estate in Tampa, Florida, which he bought for $1.85 million in October 2017.
