Constructed in 1993, the mansion spanning 7,600 square feet belonged to a highly prosperous winemaker in the country for over three decades.
It’s no secret that David E. Kelley, Michelle Pfeiffer’s husband and a television producer, has a fondness for Los Angeles’ affluent Westside. Over the past five years, the couple has purchased and sold a number of residences there, often at outrageous rates. They signed a well-known agreement to sell the ex-wife of a significant TikTok investor a $25 million mansion in Pacific Palisades two years ago. Additionally, they paid $18 million for the current owner of the opulent Brentwood home—Disney CEO Bob Iger—back in 2005.
Reportedly, the frequent home flippers have invested $10.6 million to purchase a home situated in a highly sought-after area of the Pacific Palisades Riviera. The 7,600-square-foot property is conveniently located close to Bill Cosby’s old Los Angeles residence. Additionally, it is easily accessible from the opulent properties of Dan Castellaneta, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Steven Spielberg.
The Mediterranean-style estate was constructed in 1993 and was previously sold to renowned winemaker Al Scheid for $2.8 million in 1995. Scheid passed away in the home earlier this year. Kelley and Pfeiffer paid over $130,000 more than the Scheid family’s initial asking price, eager to get the keys to their very bland new castle.
The extraordinarily large trees that encircle the level 0.38-acre lot identify it; they stand out in the double-gated front motorcourt with an attached three-car garage. Double arched entrance doors lead to a stately formal foyer with a sweeping staircase at its center. The living area with a fireplace and double pane windows to the right of the entryway is well-lit.
The family room, with its granite-topped wet bar and burled hardwood flooring, and the kitchen, which opens into “an informal secondary family room,” are just two of the other rooms that have opulent décor from the 1990s but are pleasingly retro. Four of the five bedrooms in the house are upstairs, and they’re all covered in carpet. The enormous master suite has a sitting area, two closets, a fireplace, and a private terrace with views of the lush backyard.
A dining patio with vines covers the loggia in back, and steps made of terracotta tile descend to a rectangular swimming pool shaded by several palm trees and well-kept hedgerows.
Documents also show that Pfeiffer and Kelley presently own other properties in Pacific Palisades. In the same area, they also own an older, much smaller home that is presently for sale for $7.4 million. The pair paid $6.9 million for that 1940s home in a covert transaction in late 2021.
