Abel Tesfaye, better known by his stage name The Weeknd, is an R&B artist. He recently acquired a Bel Air property, making it one of the most expensive acquisitions in Los Angeles this year. The home’s living space is more than 33,000 square feet, making it quite spacious. On the inside of the house you’ll find a gym, theater, music studio, sauna, hammam, and indoor pool; on the outside, you’ll find a sports court, an infinity pool with a waterfall, and a dynamic split stairway that connects the top patio to the grass.
Situated on a 1.6-acre plot, these amenities offer views of the Bel Air Country Club. A few months ago, Madonna bought out the house of the “Blinding Lights” singer.
Before Rayni and Branden Williams of the Beverly Hills Estates showed interest in showing Tesfaye the property, the former owners—Dutch media magnate Reinout Oerlemans and his wife, competitive cyclist Danielle Oerlemans—were not even planning to sell the property. Now, it belongs to The Weeknd. In the end, the Williams team represented the Oerlemans, while Angel Salvador, another agent from Beverly Hills Estates, represented Tesfaye.
After purchasing the property in 2015 for $21.4 million, the Oerlemans expanded it by 13,000 square feet and included many of the aforementioned amenities during the subsequent three years. They were also responsible for the house’s contemporary look, which was a significant improvement over its early-2000s style. Kitchen drawer pulls fashioned from leather belts, living room walls coated in orange gloss, and an office adorned with muted wooden sunburst panels are just a few of the unique features of this property. The possible redecorating plans of the three-time Grammy winner remain a mystery.
