The city of Paris in 2050 will have plant towers, solar panels, bridge houses, green flats, and apartment buildings that look like beehives.
Paris isn’t stuck in the style of the standard Haussman building. Instead, the capital city is growing and changing with a number of architectural projects that will make it greener and better connected.
The study used for PARIS SMART CITY 2050 was done for the City of Paris by “Vincent Callebaut Architectures” and “Setec Batiment” in the summer of 2014. They dreamed of a green town that was both useful and good for the environment, with no trash or carbon emissions.
Eight eco-friendly projects are being built in some of Paris’s most famous spots as part of the scheme:
1. In the historic center of Paris, on Rue Rivoli in the 1st district, the “MOUNTAIN TOWERS”
Towers for solar and hydraulic plants. The project’s goals are to make housing denser and more natural, as well as to triple the number of flats on each island in Paris.
2. “ANTISMOG TOWERS” in the 14th arrondissement are part of Paris’s “little belt.” They are apartment buildings lined up along a 23-km eco-corridor that is covered in plants and grass and have interesting architecture.
The “PHOTOSYNTHESIS TOWERS” are in Central Park in Paris.
Street Tour of Montparnasse, 15th section
A center park that goes up and up, with bio-facades made of green algae covering the Montparnasse Tower, building C, and the Express Tower.
4. “Bamboo Nest Towers” are a new type of social creation.
Group Massena, 13th arrondissement
The thirteen apartment tower blocks in Massena (which have the most towers of any neighborhood in Paris) will look more natural thanks to this project.
The green thermodynamic towers will have veggie gardens on the balconies, and the people who live there will grow their own organic food.
5. “HONEYCOMB TOWERS” are apartments that will make bees envious.
In the 20th arrondissement, Porte des Lilas
With this parasitic design, a hive of apartments can double the height of buildings. The apartments will have veggie gardens and hanging orchards because they care about the environment.
6. The farm in the city: “FARMSCRAPERS TOWERS” at Porte d’Aubervilliers in the 19th district
This vertical farm will make the edge of the city look like the country.
People will use public transportation less in this part of Paris, and public and private areas will feel more like nature.
7. Apartments in a mangrove in the city called “MANGROVE TOWERS”: Gare du Nord, 10th district
Light-sensitive, branching towers like these will be put right above the platforms of the Gare du Nord. There will be offices, hotels, and apartments there for clients from other countries and people who are visiting.
8. “BRIDGE TOWERS” apartments in Pont Aval, 16th arrondissement, and Pont Amont, 12th arrondissement will have no trash or carbon emissions.
There will be flats for amphibians on both the Pont Amon and the Pont Aval of these bridges that cross the Seine.
In terms of shared living, they are a new kind of urban and social innovation.
