Immerse Yourself in the Extraordinary Architecture of the Guitar Oasis at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Fort Lauderdale

Another step closer to reality has been made for Hard Rock International’s guitar-shaped hotel tower at The Mirage. The Clark County Zoning Commission approved a measure on August 16 that permits building growth.

With a partnership signed last year, Hard Rock currently operates the resort, with plans to build a 600-room, 660-foot-tall building along Las Vegas Boulevard. Development papers state that the proposed guitar-shaped hotel will feature 96,000 square feet of retail and dining space in addition to 49,000 square feet of casino space. The resort will also feature a spa, salon, fitness center, and swimming pool.

Earlier this year, commissioners were informed by Jennifer Lazovich, a spokesman for Hard Rock, that the high-rise will be constructed “right where the existing volcano is.” She added that the rest of the property will be “modernized and themed” by the company to match the guitar tower. Her client has declared its intention to turn The Mirage into a resort under the Hard Rock name.

In a correspondence addressed to the company, Lazovich, a land-use lawyer at Kaempfer Crowell, stated that the intended tower will have floor to ceiling glass panes and be designed to resemble black-to-back guitars with “brightly lit strings.”

For more than $1 billion in cash, Hard Rock acquired The Mirage’s operations from MGM Resorts International in December. The real estate of the Mirage is owned by Vici Properties, which has agreed in writing with Hard Rock that the first year fee will be $90 million.

Hard Rock unveiled plans for a tower on the site looking like a guitar when they announced they were buying the Mirage in late 2021. The company is well-known for its enormous ornamental guitars, and it has already built a hotel tower in Florida that resembles a guitar and is 450 feet tall. This one is intended to be built in Las Vegas.

Hard Rock International will continue to refer to the property as The Mirage until the renovations and rebranding are finished.
