Mabul Island, which the Malaysians refer to as Pulau Mabul. When the fishing community first developed in 1970, this small island was recovered. It didn’t get further traction until 1990, when many divers arrived here to work. The island’s land area is roughly 20 hectares broad, relatively level, and has a beach with only white sand. In the northwest of the island, there is a coral reef covering more than 2 square kilometers.
Mabul Island is managed in the Tawau district as a part of Semporna. The island’s two principal settlements are Kampung Mabul and Kampung Musu. On the island, the majority of people lead itinerant lives. Since fishing is a source of income, people are always aware of the need to protect the environment. This is the reason why guests consistently perceive that the island’s ecosystem is not greatly impacted by human activity.
Maybe because there are so many fish resources there, Mabul fisherman choose to fish close to the Malaysian-Philippine border. A typical fishing trip at sea lasts three to five days. Upon their return, the men sold their fish on the mainland region of Semporna. People’s life on the island carry on in this manner. A section of land in Mabul’s east was purchased by Sipadan Mabul Resort (SMART) in 1992 and developed for tourism.
The stunning coral reef, which is situated at a depth of 25 to 30 meters, allows guests to experience fantastic scuba diving. The majority of resorts provide scuba diving. You can catch some squid, octopus, fish, etc. to experience a day in the life of a fisherman on Mabul Island, in addition to marveling at the unusual marine life.

There are perhaps six resorts in all where scuba divers can lodge. Though some will be erected on stilts near the shore, the majority are on ground. You will be able to experience the calm when you merge in with the lush, unspoiled nature of Mabul Island during your days there. Photographers will be especially enthralled by Mabul Island’s amazing waters because of its naturally stunning “virtual living” areas.
