This temple was built in 1985 in Samphran district, Nakhon Pathom province, about 40 km west of Bangkok, Thailand, with the name Wat Samphran. In particular, “wat” means temple, and “sampan” is the name of the place where the temple is located.
Unlike the designs of other temples in the shape of a gradually smaller pyramid, Wat Samphran temple is built in a cylindrical shape like a massive building with 17 floors, 80m high, painted in an eye-catching pink color. and the arched windows make us feel like we are lost in the colorful world of Disneyland.
The image of a giant blue dragon made from iron and fiberglass, strong, winding, surrounding from the body to the top of the tower, carrying authority, is what attracts tourists the most as well as exudes the inherent sacredness of the temple.
The dragon has a hollow interior design and its body hugs the tower. There is a staircase inside the dragon’s body, however, to preserve the integrity and silence of the temple, this walkway has been restricted from use along with a number of other areas.
