The Calilo Resort on Ios is one of the most interesting places we’ve ever stayed in. In this review, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about our stay.

CALILO RESORT, IOS  HOTEL REVIEW

POSITION

You can only get to Calilo Resort by boat because Ios does not have its own airport. The resort is on the island of Ios, which is close to Santorini. And the boat ride to Ios is only 45 to 1:15 hours, depending on whether you take the faster express ferry or the cheaper slower ferry. The closest international airport is in Santorini. This means that a stay at Calilo and a few days on Santorini are easy to combine. Of course, you can start your trip on any other Greek island you choose. In Greece, the boat system is very well set up.

A private driver from Calilo met us when we got off the boat at the dock. From the port in Chora, the city, we took a minibus to the mountains and the other side of Ios. A thirty to forty-minute drive gets you to the lodge.

Calilo is a great place for a quiet and relaxed vacation because it is out of the way. A long way from the beach clubs and bars that are mostly in the Chora area. There are shuttles at Calilo if you want to see more of Ios while you’re there, so don’t worry. But read on to learn more about this!
