Striker Mason Greenwood, loaned to Getafe by Man Utd, scored a superb long-range shot against Almeria in round 14 of La Liga.
The 22-year-old talent dribbled the ball from the right wing to the middle, passed a defender and then fired a cannon with his left foot at an angle. The strong kick made Almeria’s goalkeeper fly just to add beauty to the goal.
This handling phase somewhat reminds of Greenwood’s sublime days in Man Utd’s shirt. Even Goal newspaper said that this could be the best goal of the English striker’s career.

In addition, in this match, Greenwood was considered to have the second best performance after Mayoral. Man Utd star has 1 Chances created, 2/3 Shot accuracy, 2 Successful dribbles, 5 Passes into final third, 5 Recoveries and 3 Duels won
Witnessing this shining moment of Greenwood probably made many Man Utd fans regretful. The 22-year-old striker had great expectations when he debuted for the first team in 2018 after 11 years of growing up from Man Utd’s youth academy. Greenwood scored 22 goals in 88 matches for Man Utd until January 2022, when he was suspended from playing due to accusations of É‘ssÉ‘ulting his girlfriend.

Greenwood took more than a year off until February 2023, when police stopped investigating him because witnesses withdrew. Thanks to that, the 22-year-old striker was found innocent. However, due to the wave of protests from fans and pressure from the women’s team, Man Utd could not keep Greenwood. They chose to loan him to Getafe in August.
Greenwood had a hard time finding his form in Spain. In 2023–2024, he scored four goals for Getafe. After allowing Largie Ramazani to score, Getafe equalized the score at 1-1 thanks to the goal against Almeria. After that, Borja Mayoral scored to make it 2-1, completing Getafe’s homecoming comeback.
British media report that Greenwood’s chances of playing for Manchester United again are slim. His current Old Trafford team contract expires in 2025, with an option to extend for an additional year. Greenwood will play next Friday against Las Palmas alongside Getafe.
