Mac Allister said: “Honestly, It’s so hard to play like this. Yesterday we were in a meeting talking about Man City and the way we wanted to play, and I couldn’t even open my eyes.

“It’s very tough [with] jet lag, a long trip, but it is what it is. We like playing football and we want to win and that’s why we did our best.”

Klopp has caught some heat in recent days over his latest comments on Liverpool’s kick-off times, yet Mac Allister did the right thing in backing his manager.
