Although he still has room for improvement, the legendary Brazilian believes that the PSG attacker has the potential to be the greatest player of his generation.
Kylian Mbappe, the French World Cup victor, has received advice from legendary Brazillian Pele on how to become the greatest player in the world.
Formerly endorsing the 20-year-old as the “new Pele,” the legendary football player now conceded that Mbappe still has a lot of learning ahead of him in order to realize his full potential.
Pele says that Mbappe, the forward for Paris Saint-Germain, still has room to grow physically even if he has all the makings of the greatest player of his generation.
Pele informed Le Parisien, “He is not the king yet.” “He is putting himself through trials to become king. There are still many steps ahead of him. He’s young; he’s just getting started.
“You don’t always know everything about football. There’s always more to discover. He can always work on his movements and game. If I had any advice for him, it would be to look after himself and take care of his body. He already knows how to do it. For today’s athlete, the physical component is paramount.
“What’s absent? Not a lot. Perhaps his leap, the impulse, and the heading game. We diverge once more because of that, as I had a lot of momentum. I scored a bunch of headed goals and was flying high.”
Pele disagrees that Mbappe’s present club is preventing him from reaching his full potential, despite numerous commentators suggesting that the former Monaco striker has to establish himself outside of Ligue 1. Despite having played his entire career at Santos and never leaving Brazil, the 78-year-old is regarded as one of the best players of all time, and Pele believes Mbappe can still make an impact at PSG.
He went on, “No, he doesn’t have to leave the PSG.” “He will become the greatest player in the world if he keeps playing the same way. That is crucial. If Pele must be compared, he never left Santos to become the world’s greatest player.”
Similar to Pele, Mbappe also won the World Cup while still a youth; the Brazilian did so at the age of 17, while Mbappe did so at 19. Pele became the only player in history to win the World Cup three times after going on to win it twice more.
Mbappe is already on a similar route; during the competition last summer, he scored four goals to lead France to victory and earn the Best Young Player honor. In addition, he is expected to win his third Ligue 1 championship in three years. He last won the championship in 2016–17, the year before he moved to Paris for €180 million ($224 million), where he also won the title in his first season.
With 27 goals in 24 games this season, Mbappe has already more than quadrupled his 13 goals in 27 league games from the previous season, helping PSG take a 20-point lead in the Ligue 1 standings.
