The picturesque resort village is located on the edge of České Švýcarsko National Park in the Elbe canyon, surrounded by rock walls up to 80 meters high. In the center is the late Baroque church of St. John of Nepomuck and half-timbered houses in the German style, perfectly suited to the surrounding magical landscape.
Although Hřensko represents the lowest natural point in the Czech Republic, the surrounding scenery creates the impression that you are in the mountains. There are good views of the town from the Elbe and Janovské vyhlídka.
Your trip to Czech Switzerland’s most beautiful places may start in Hřensk, but one of the most attractive locations may lie just on the eastern edge of the village. Observation boats passed through the Edmundová and Divoka gorges on the Kamenice River, surrounded on both sides by high rock walls. Romantic nature walks across pedestrian bridges and through tunnels along the river are also very beautiful.
Hřensko is the starting point for trips to the Elbe Sandstone region and to Pravčická Brána, the largest natural stone bridge in Europe and a symbol of the Swiss Czech National Park. You can also get here from the settlement of Mezná, where children will explore the forest experience area. You can reach the excursion castle Pravčická brána and Sokolí hnízdo from here by following the trail of Gabriela, while also along the marked educational path, which according to many visitors is one of the most beautiful sightseeing routes in the Czech Republic.
